The raspberries weren't too much of a surprise - but the tomato, still in it's 4x4" pot that dad brought down from NY a couple weekends ago - THAT'S a surprise! Maybe it just thinks it better hurry up and get some seeds out there if it's going to be trapped in this little pot?

I am expecting jam from all of you guys!!
Oh I would love for you to stop by my photo blog.. And it is on blogger.. Pics of flowers, kids and food. Mostly ;)

I am an idiot to forget this.. What's new??
Alison
You need to understand that I am a poorly socialised, only child. Sharing is not on my list of behaviors. I may offer you preserves, but I'll probably make you help me paint the house or put on a new roof for a jar.
Oh praise de lawd, she's on blogger so I don't have to feel guilty for not commenting on the MSN site. (I just don't want a .NET Passport!)
An only child huh?? then what is my excuse I am the second of five.. I hardly share and even HIDE my candy from the kids. Will you share your peas??
The kids don't need your candy, that's what Grandparents are for. The Grandparents are slipping the kids cash too, I'll bet. "Here, buy a drum set."
I have one kid who is saving for one.. I will have you over to help build a sound proof shed in the backyard.
I always buy really loud toys for my friend's kids.
yep because you don't have to hear them.. Is that correct? My mother in law does that..
I don't have to hear them and it irritates my friends... money well spent to revenge all the phone calls where the kids got put on the line in the middle of a conversation to say "hi" when they could barely speak.
"Say hi to Uncle Steven."
"........"
"Say hi."
"blphhh"
"Use your words sweetie"
"plppppph"
ROFL.. Too funny
Beautiful pictures Jeph!
Oh I've had that conversation with my niece!! In fact, I tried calling her on her third birthday just a couple weekends ago. My sister-in-law informed me Emma was having a bad day - she didn't want to talk. Even though it was her birthday, there was no way she was going to get on the phone. When I asked if being three meant she was out of the terrible twos, Jesse said three was the new two - I guess she'd had a couple weeks of crankiness.
Now from an uncle's point of view, that means buy her more toys and goodies! LOL Bet that's not the case at my brother and sister-in-laws house though...
Thanks Joe! My stuff never compares to all the great pics you post!
Jeph, raspberries? Wonderful! It seems so early, but then I have to remember that I'm from the northern boonies of Canada. Everything in the US seems to fruit or flower early compared to my childhood experiences.
Eat some of them fresh! Or: make ups ome good ice cream or sorbet with that ice cream maker of yours!
Steven: play nicely and share. I say that as someone without a garden who will happily mooch your produce off you!
Some lovely photos there Alison!
Trust me - I don't grow enough raspberries at our current place for anything more than some snacking treats - maybe to sprinkle on some cake or ice cream, but that's about it. Once we get some land, I hope to have plenty more raspberries for those recipes Peter!
And in a shameless plug, you'll see that raspberries are real close to pickin' out at Hilgerts Berry Farm & Market near us: http://www.hilgerts.com/diary.html?year=2006 I developed this site years (yeeeears!) ago, and even though it's set up so the owners can maintain the Farm Diary themselves, Karen still has me do some rare maintenance on the site. We developed Hilgert's Farm Diary LONG before blogs were all the rage...who knew! :)
Jeph
Since you're our resident coding nerd, is it hard to make a Blogger template? I'm dissatisfied with what they have available and I have Elizabeth Castro's HTML4/CSS book.. is that enough to work with?
I want to visit this myself. I HAVE tweaked my code a tiny bit here, but that's just adding the list of links on the side - which I think you've already done yourself.
I would think some of your biggest hurdles might be the graphical layout of your template (assuming you're designing something brand spanking new) and then getting that layout to play nice with all the different browsers (voice of experience here!). And creating a layout that you can then include Bloggers specific tags within to ensure all your content shows up. I really need to look at the template building more to see what I can pick apart. If you start before I do this, just let me know if you have any questions and I'm sure we can work through them.... Otherwise I'll let you know what I find.
Oh, and yes, for just dabbling with the HTML and CSS, that's probably as good a book as any other there right now. I don't know the specific book, but it should cover all the basics you'd need here.
I was thinking it would be a nice winter project, but I could probably just use dreamweaver and save myself some trouble.
Oh and can I be a total snob and only worry about my site displaying well in Firefox/Mozilla, Opera and Safari, I'd love to give people an incentive to stop using Internet Explorer.
