These cats are bananas

B. A. N. A. N. A. S.

(Heh heh - I hope you get that song stuck in your head the rest of the day!) ;-)

Ok, in my defense, I KNOW there are some who might think there are too many cat posts on here, ooooor that it's tolerable if there's just one or two cat pictures in a post - but in this case, I couldn't resist posting all these pictures (believe me, there are more!)

We were in the mall killing time while my car was getting worked on the other day, and saw a new pet store called Moochie & Co. We were going to stroll right on past, and then saw kittens up for adoption in a cage (not a pet store where you buy pets - but a pet toy, accessories, etc store). Suuuuuuckers - we had to go in and look, check out the kitten sisters looking for a home, the cute little black puppy, etc. Before you know it we're discussing litter types with one of the ladies working there, letting her convince us we really do need to cave to the idea of buying a water fountain-type device for Tucker (and no, they don't sell them - but she has one which her cat loves).

I don't know if it was the "we've taken up too much of their time and had no intentions of buying anything" thing, or if Brett just fell for it's cuteness, but Brett went and bought a $6+ (GASP!) catnip filled cloth "banana" for the cats. Great. Like we don't always say "they have too many toys", not to mention there's a tub of catnip that Simon and Tucker take hits off once in awhile. Oh, and Moxie HATES catnip - she wants to see what the boys are all hopped up on, sniffs, winces, and backs away. Can't stand the stuff - whether it's dry and storebought, or fresh from the backyard.

Well, as you can see here, the catnip banana was a HUGE hit. I don't know if they also have crack in it or what, but the cats went ape shit for it. Here's Tucker making a fool of himself:

"Num num num - tastey banana!"

View the full size of this one - check out his tongue sticking out!

"How do I turn this thing on?"

"Hello? Betty Ford clinic?"

"Yeah, hi. I think I have a problem and I'd like to admit myself..."

And then something weird happened. Moxie did her usual "what are they so excited about" routine, and came over to investigate...

...and suddenly something new happened. She LOOOOVED it. She took it from Tucker, and there was no way she was sharing with Simon!

Poor Simon really didn't get to play with it much the first day.

It's like she was a new cat - we've also noticed she's been friendlier and more lovey with us (better living through drugs?). She'll run up and greet us, wiggling her tail, etc. I'm wondering if she's coming out of that awkward and anti-social early teens period and is turning into a young, sophisticated woman?

Well, ok, maybe not SOPHISTICATED...there's nothing classy or demure about some of the things she was doing with the banana! Here you'd think she was hoping to ride it!

So now Brett's got the banana locked away and gives limited access to it. He's worried they'll turn into burnouts with it. LOL!!

Love it! Here we have catnip-stuffed frogs, birds, bugs, and butterflies. No bananas, though. Good idea! I often buy the organic catnip toys for our cats. Indeed, it's like crack for cats! :) Hey, there's a new marketing slogan ;)

PS - I, for one, don't think you EVER have too many cat pics on your blog!
