Tart and yummy

And speaking of cooking (referring to yesterday's post)...what shall I do with these little guys!?

These Meyer lemons are actually fairly small - they're from the new "standard" (if small) shaped tree I picked up this spring - it already had plenty of blooms and some small tough green nubbins of fruits on it.  They definitely have the right coloring, and as I moved the tree to get ready for our hardwood installation this week, my feet got pelted by a couple of them dropping off.  Yup, that's definitely a sign they're ready for harvest!

I'm thinking I'll be making a Meyer lemon version of lemon bars before the upcoming weekend is over.  If there's enough, maybe a Meyer lemon meringue pie as well!?  I just worry - how long will they last??  I've got them in the fridge, but they're open/exposed in their bowl.  I should check to see what the best way to preserve them is, just in case they're tempted to go fast since they're ripe enough to fall off the tree.

Another unfortunate - I'm not in the office a whole lot this week and next, and even when I am, I'm in our temporary location that we three application development guys are in, but far away from the rest of my dept coworkers...  There's a few other coworkers from other depts not too far away who I know would come eat what I make, but we're pretty much out of our usual area....so less likelihood of having folks come by for good eats.  Brett won't eat anything I make with lemons...  I wonder how many of the usual 3rd floor crew would trek all the way down to the 1st floor just for baked goods.
