What's on the needles

I have three different things going right now, and oddly - they're all fingering weight yarn! Seriously - a year ago I figured I'd never pick up such fine weight yarn again because it seemed like it would take forever to actually finish anything. Now? Seems like most things I work on are fingering weight or closer to it than the worsted weight yarn I would only touch more than a year ago!

Here's the scarf I started awhile back.  Slow progress on it now that I'm working on other stuff at the same time.  And Doogie wants to know why you're looking at his butt.  This one's in Madelinetosh Whiskey Barrel and Schoppel-Wolle Crazy Zauberball #2092 Attractive Side.

After finishing the New Beginnings shawl recently and getting such great response from other folks on Ravelry, I was tempted to do another shawl.  No, I'm not gonna wear this Sweet Dreams shawl, but I don't have to worry about getting it just the right size, nor do I have to knit a perfectly sized mate.  The main part is done, but before I start into the section that's going to be the most lace I've ever done, I have to get the green beads that I think it needs to go with the subtle green in the Madelinetosh Graphite color yarn (leftover from Brett's mom's shawl).

And then I started on fingering weight socks - aka sock weight socks I guess?  I was itching to use some of the Dream in Color yarn I had (this is Tidal)....and rather than go with a specific pattern I found online, I started there but then realized I would just my usual route of making something striped.  That's also partly because I'm not sure how high up the calf of two legs one skein of yarn will go, so this way I'm working in more yarn (different color - Malabrigo in Chocolate Armago), and can add as much length as needed.  I've just finished working in the waste yarn for the afterthought heel (which gets added later), and am about to work my way up the calf/leg.

about 5 years ago, someone persuaded me (kicking and screaming at first) to try fingering/sock weight yarn. now it's all I use.

LOVE the sock colors. but I never knit sox cause I don't wear sox.

I'm worried I'll finally knit socks with fingering weight only to shred them when I wear them. These definitely won't be worn in my usual shoes I wear day to day (running shoes and slip on leather shoes) - maybe more just around the house.

Love the colors. With weather like this year, you'll be knitting warm undies well into summer.

ROFL! I haven't considered knitting undies yet... ;-)
