Was getting ready to plant some bean seeds in the just-emptied garlic bed, just before the next round of rain starts up (thunder in the distance, and a tornado watch for this evening), when I saw something odd up in one of the plum trees.
A yellow shiro Japanese plum on one of my two-in-one grafted trees!!
This is the first plum in the backyard, and I realize I'm probably jinxing it by acknowledging it, but it's just exciting for me!
It's just within reach if I stand on the edge of the raised bed - and is still just a little firm. I didn't think I was going to have any plums this year - each year frost has killed off the small fruit, and this year I didn't even see fruit trying to form - there were almost no pollinators out at that time.
Exciting! Will I get to eat it?
