Blue heron

The heron and I had a few run ins this weekend.  It seemed like whenever I hadn't been out in the yard for awhile, or first thing when I got up in the morning, I'd go out there and one of us would scare the other.  Sometimes I'd see it and be able to walk around a bit, trying not to do anything too dramatic, and it would stay and watch me.

But then it would decide it had had enough of me, and would take off like a pterodactyl...

I'm sure that dead tree doesn't have too many more years before it falls over...but I hope it lasts a long time.  It's quite they perfect focal point, and sometimes has a heron or woodpecker on it...  Heck, I even saw one of the turkeys up in it this past winter!
