Uh-oh! You're going to hate me! It goes back to my childhood, but I hate okra. My mother wasn't a good cook to begin with and I hated her boiled okra and fried okra. One night, I must have been about 6 or 7, I was told I could not get up from the table until I ate all the okra on my plate. Well, my stubborn streak kicked in big time. . . I waited (about an hour) when my parents wouldn't see, then I dumped those vile things in the garbage. Haven't eaten them since! I always that was a southern thing but I see they have invaded the North Country.
I pretty much assume most people hate okra. I know very few who do like it - it's usually associated with the slimy snot stuff...but if cooked right, you really don't have to deal with that. Breaded and fried, or cooked in gumbo - and no slime!
