Here's hoping the Invasion doesn't end!

We're quite hooked on Invasion - and I'm glad we're back to getting new episodes! This past TV season started with lots of new science fiction type shows - more than I can remember in a long time! I expected to love Threshold, maybe like Invasion, and probably wouldn't be too thrilled with Surface. Boy was I wrong!

Threshold started off kind of cool - interesting concept, people seeing a higher-dimensional "ship" that was driving just about anyone who witnessed it insane, and perhaps implanting commands to do evil things. After the first episode, it started to suck big time.

Brett put on Surface one night (probably against my wishes), and I figured it would be silly - sea monsters? No way - this show had me HOOKED! We LOVED it! Lots of stuff was going on, it was happening fast, people were all over the place, we saw lots of sea creatures (most of which were handled well), the characters were all very cool and likeable (I even liked Martha Plimpton during her brief period on the show - gasp!), and, oh yeah, it turns out it was apparently intended to be some sort of limited maxi-series. What?!?! You mean we get one season and then we're cut off? From what I read on line, it seems those who liked the show figured it's likely to come back again - sure hope so! Gimme more Surface!

And then there's Invasion. This is good stuff! I figured it'd just be an Invasion of the Body Snatchers rip off, and how the heck could they extend that out past a few hours at most? Sure, it's not paced nearly as fast as Surface is, but I loooove the drug out pace in this. They make us want more, we learn just a little bit more each episode, or the tangled web of the characters is knotted up some more, or, hey, maybe they just give us some family development. Good ol' Hardy Boys' Sean Cassidy has himself a real winner here!

I may not like Sheriff Underlay, but we're not really supposed to. Or are we? Do I? At first he was supposed to be "the bad guy," but tonite we were discussing how maybe he's just as naive in many ways as we figured he was pretending to be. Sure, he's done bad stuff, but wasn't it kind of all for the good of the community in the long run? Eddie Cibrian as Russ (pictured above) - hello! Hot! And if I were straight, I'd totally go for Larkin (Russ' wife) - she's beautiful! Mariel, Russ' ex-wife, is also beautiful, but in a more ...hm... reserved/sophisticated way? And I LOVE LOVE LOVE the kids in the show - Jesse, Kira and Rose are all great characters, with top-notch young actors playing them. Rose (Ariel Gade, pictured above) is a little cutie - and man does she seem like she's probably a real mature little kid!

There's more coolness about the show, but it's time for bed and I've babbled on long enough... I just hope this show comes back next season. Would love to know how it's doing in the ratings!

Shaun Cassidy produced this? Wow. I used to have a poster of him in my bedroom when I was young. Why yes, I am gay. Why do you ask?

I know - crazy that he's back doing this sorta stuff, hunh? My suggestion: DON'T go track down a picture of what he looks like now. It'll destroy the mental image you have of him from your younger days!
