Fun with the webcam!

We finally got to use the webcam mom and dad got us - while they were here this weekend even! That means we didn't actually use it to communicate WITH mom and dad, but at least we had fun chatting with my brother, sister-in-law and nieces.

While working on the computer today I got the usual "you will be my lounging space" attack from Notch. To share this with the rest of the world, I decided to test the webcam's photo taking abilities, also testing the regular and dark room filter features. Does a surprisingly good job!! The first two pics are without the light filter, the others are with it turned on (I'm a LITTLE washed out in those)

This is the "no no, look at me, look at me - give ME attention, not the webcam!" maneuver I think?
Usually there are some claws-in-the-nipple action here - NOT something I'm into...

And after this Notch hopped down and left me with a mouthful of hair! Yuck...but I'm used to it.

Attack of the Computer Killer Notch.. How did you come up with the names for your cats??

Ack! No Steven? Who will comment on the entries in my own blog. Step it up Remley!

Notch got his name because he has a small notch out of the corner of his tongue. Since we took him in as a stray, and the vet guessed him as 1-2 yrs old, we don't know if it was a birth defect, if it happened in a fight or accident, or if he just bit himself!

And Tucker was just always "tuckered" and laying around in weird angles as a kitten (and he still does - is usually belly-up on the living room floor!). You can see some of his earliest pictures in wierd positions here: http://jephers.com/gallery/20031228_tucker/

The big fat one on the left is Penelope and the one on the right is Tiger Lily.. Marcus didn't make the picture. He is our 3 legged tuxedo cat..

I seem to always meet calico cats that aren't very friendly. Do you find the same with yours?

They really seem to like guarding their home - as do ours! In addition to the stray/neighborhood cats that have been coming by to visit my catnip, we've also taken on a new guest - Ferdinand the field mouse that's living on the patio somewhere. Occasionally he'll dart back and forth, or the cats will spy him snacking on...birdseed?

Tiger Lily (colors of the flower, orange, white and black) is VERY friendly if you are over the age of eight.. She loves older kids and adults.. I think she has been mauled one too many times from the smaller kids. My grandma had a calico names Patches and she was one of the sweetest cats ever.. My MIL had a calico persian and she was not a friendly cat.. VERY SNOOTY.. I think it was mostly because of her being a persian..
The cats I think in that picture were just basking in the sun and HOPING someone would open the door and they could sneek out.. Penelope loves to roll around on the concrete walkway and Tiger lily loves to chase insects that fly.. Her favorite is the firefly.
Our only visitors are fat cat , the neighbors cat that is easily over twenty pounds and cardnals, bluebirds and tufted titmouse.. We found a bluebird nest yesterday, made out of one of my sons hair.. We found this tightly woven nest with blonde hair.. Needless to say he has kept it as a souvineir.
