Look what I found today!!! My zucchini plants really aren't all that big yet - after all, I just planted them in the pots less than two weeks ago! However, they've LOVED the heat we've been having, and I've been really good about watering (so far). So maybe that's what's inspired them to crank out these little tiny baby zukes already!?
Don't get too excited - I don't think either of the two fruit are more than an inch yet...but there's hope! I don't expect the first zucchini that show to fully develop - just seems like that's setting one's self up for disappointment. But hey, this means it might not be TOO much longer before I'm unloading stealth packages of summer squash bounty on unsuspecting victims!!! >;-) (Actually, I don't know that I can count on POTTED summer squash to produce as much as those planted directly in the ground....anyone with experience on this care to share?)
This variety is Aristocrat - about as common a standard green zucchini as you'll find I believe. I have some darker Black ones, plus some yellow zucchini and some yellow crook neck squash also growing - they're just not as far along as the Aristocrats...

is there going to be enough squash for me??
oh by the way Alison (weeding) is now baseballmom come see my new blog
Hi! I just found your blog and love it! I'm a newbie urban veggie gardener and am soaking up all the information. I love all the pictures. I'm jealous of your zuccini! I have squash (the yellow crookneck kind) in my garden and no fruit yet.....tons of foliage though! However, it hasn't gotten hot here yet (I'm clear across the country from where you are) so maybe in a few weeks it'll take off!
Trust me, I'm sure there'll be enough squash to go around. A coworker, who lives down the street, emailed Friday morning asking if I was the one who left a bag of squash on her doorstep. Nope. Not me. Not yet! ;-)
Hi Krista - sorry it took so long to greet you as a new user - I'm usually better with the response time! I plan to check out your site a bit more thoroughly...and got a sneak peek the other day. Love to see other gardeners blogs!
