The new Knight Rider

Ok, did anyone see it? If so, what'd you think?

Some of the acting was pretty painful. Some of the effects, like showing KITT driving along a road off in the distance, when you could CLEARLY see it was a fake car (and bad fake shadow) superimposed onto the road, were particularly bad. And I have to say I'm tired of shows where it's "night time", and yet you can see shadows from the sun, light on people's faces, etc - where they clearly filmed during the day and just filtered/altered it afterwards.

All that griping aside (there was more from Brett), I'm sorta kinda intrigued. I'm not sure a show like this would last long on TV in 2008... We know it was just a 2 hr movie, but it was clearly set up to try and spin off a regular series.

So...your thoughts!?

At then end - I wanted to like it... but I kept waiting for Michael to be getting filmed by Mike - eating a cheeseburger on the hood of the car... while it told him to clean up... and KITT uploaded it to YouTube.
The show sucks in so many ways the first one could only have dreamed of...
I think I spent more time making fun of things than actually paying attention... the visuals with the "are you homosexual" question at the gas station was just too much - that and the fact the only car other than a world full of Fords, was the GM product the "bad guys" drove... Which obviously does not have a government 5 star front crash rating (except in the passenger rear seat).
Best part is - they can't make another one... well they could - but the computer would have to have a lisp... "Hello, Mikey, I'm KIFT"
Crap - like the acting and the special-effects... and the plot... Here's to hoping they pick it up as a regular weekly show!

Oh yeah, I totally WANTED to like it too... I didn't HATE it, but it was no where near as good as it should've been. Do they need to do something like make it intentionally cheesey so they're acknowledging what made all those old shows good? Why is it we can't have cool new versions of most of these shows. Did you hear Bionic Woman got cancelled? Hello - she wasn't bionic enough!

I couldn't tell if I was offended or amused by the "are you homosexual" graphics... Actually - I think we were both quite amuse by it, but in that "oh man, the did NOT just do that" kind of way.

I didn't notice that about which cars were on - and that GM were the evil cars. GOOD EYE!

Brett wondered how they would've fit a third person in the back seat if they were rescuing anyone. Couldn't they have at LEAST picked something a little bigger? I think it would've been funny if KITT was a Honda Element! Clunky!

So you really do want this to be a regular show!? Gasp!

NO!
That was sarcasm at it's best... OK - here's the geekness coming out - things that bothered me...
1) the new KITT eye - two opposing slider lights... that was what KARR had (the evil KITT) - and the episode where KITT went evil too - that's how you knew they were bad - two opposing slider lights...
2) Michael Knight - IS NOT REALLY Michale Knight... his real names was Michael Long - a cop - who was reconstructed to look like Garth Knight - and became Michael... that's why EVERY SINGLE SHOW they said (after capturing him) "We did some research and it seems that up until 2 years ago, Michael Knight never existed"
3) There was a short lived show called "Viper" - and that car changed color and shape too - the sad thing is - it ALSO became a silver non-production cousin to the car it really was... the Chrysler Defender... whatever.
4) Not a single mention of Devon Miles - the former leader of the Foundation of Law and Order... not one... just some pud wanker who you never heard of before in all the history of the old show - who suddenly shows up having built the 2000, building a 3000... and now he "resurrects the Foundation" - tool.
OK - I could go on... you get the point... and I have driven everyone away from your blog... in a fake Ford, with no back seat... no doubt...

And piss on whoever canceled Bionic Woman - that was the best new show of the season...
Jericho is back - and to quote Max - "I was waiting for something, and that wasn't it".

OMG - you're totally right about the KITT "eye" slider. I totally forgot about KARR. I KNEW the light wasn't quite right - Brett and I talked about that while the show was one. Dammit - or maybe this is foreshadowing!? Maybe the REAL KITT will make a return and trash this nasty KARR-with-a-makeover?!

I totally remembered the plastic surgery stuff (how else do you explain the chin dimple!?) - and was telling Brett about that. I didn't remember any of the names - very impressive. Did you go back and look all this up?

I totally remember Viper, WANTING it to be a cooler Knight Rider, and it never quite succeeded. And I also pointed out that it felt like KITT's new skill seemed like a Viper rip off.

Good point about Devon - they DID need more connection to the old stuff. And why no Bonnie? Couldn't they have at least acknowledged them verbally if they weren't around (willing) to do a cameo?! And I'm NOT a fan of the new guy, or "pud" as you so fondly refer to him... I don't like that actor - he was in X-Men, Stephen King's Kingdom Hospital, and a ton of other stuff. I just don't like him.

Now - how do you feel about the Misfits of Science? Worth a comeback!?

I do NOT get the return of Jericho. We watched maybe the first four episodes and lost interest. But I think the ONLY way to bring back Bionic Woman is to put her on par with Cameron, the female terminator from Sarah Connor Chronicles. I know that's not really what the Bionic Woman is about, but in this day and age, if someone's gonna have machines in them, people want to be wowed....not just think she can maybe run a little faster or jump a little higher. Hell, I'm not sure she's much better than olympic athletes - they've never really set parameters.
