Super quick post... It's 49.5F outside and the spring peepers across the street are singing up a storm. Granted, they were doing the same when it was down to 38 last week as I was leaving for work one morning. I'm thinking nuthin' shuts these frogs up. Oh well, they're definitely more tolerable than the bullfrogs that'll start back up in the pond behind us!
Anyhow - had to do a quick post to show what finally opened up today!
Ok, it wasn't fully open when I took this picture, but I've hardly been home today, and I'm thinking maybe it opened up a little more later in the afternoon/evening. Still, that means more of the daffodils will be opening this week...just wait til you see what things look like around here with more blooms!
And speaking of more blooms...
Look at all the crocuces! Crocusii? ANYhow...they're looking great - and I look forward to them spreading and filling out in years to come. I might catch myself moving them periodically as I work more into the beds they're in - it's not like they're going to provide year-round beauty.
Can't you almost smell them just from these pics!?
Here's the long arbor vitae bed to the back/side of the house with the daffs and crocuses. I THINK there are also tulips in there - I forget now. And the mums I planted in the fall are already starting to show a little green coming up from the mulch.
And in the bed on the north side of the garage are hostas that will hopefully come back, and these pansies, which weren't even of the Icicle pansy variety, that survived winter and, in fact, pretty much had green leaves all winter, even during our snow storms and freezing temps! Cool! And now that things are warming up, each one has a purple flower... Looking forward to these spreading and/or reseeding!
And here's where the tomatoes spent the nite. I was too tired to bring them in after we built the cold frames - and it looks like they did just fine. However, temps are already dropping tonite, and there's snow in the forecast for the weekend, so all the leafed-out, non-fruit growies were taken to the basement a half hour ago (there's my exercise for the day! Whew!), and maybe tomorrow I'll take down the not-yet-sprouted bulbs/corms, and then before the weekend I figure I'll take down the raspberries and grapes...
Yup, snug as a bug in a rug!
And I just got notice my 20 asparagus crowns (10 green, 10 purple) are on their way... I've gotta start preparing more beds! Also needing beds are these three asian pear trees (each is a different variety, and they'll cross-polinate). There's kiwi gold raspberries in the fake-terracotta pot in front of the trees. They're not budding yet...

Me too! I think they're magic ...
Nice looking conglomeration of plants you got going on there Jephers!
As for the bulb growth - we got that goin' on too... Have them across the front year where we dug out the "mess" in front of the house last year... and then regraded...
Friggin bulbs everywhere.
