Brett's out to dinner with a couple friends/coworkers, so I'm sitting out on the deck eating dinner (wait'll I post pics later!!!) and starting on some client work. Had a new bird I'd never seen before land on the deck railing, and give me some serious consideration before it took off, deciding I wasn't worth the risk for some birdseed apparently. As best as I can tell (wasn't able to get a picture), it was a Carolina Wren:
Real pretty - definitely a more orangey-brown than the birds I'm used to seeing, with some interesting markings on the face, and a longer tail. Hopefully we'll see it around some more.
There's also a starling (evil, evil birds) that keeps coming back that's quite brave - most likely because it's hungry! It seems to have had an accident and can't close it's beak, which is wide open. While I don't like these nasty birds, I do feel bad for it...
Very unflattering picture of yours truly, proving I'm out on the deck working in this nice, sunny (aka somewhat blinding) weather... Sure is a beautiful evening!

It's not a horrible picture of you, really.
Birds that have their beaks open are usually panting - they don't sweat (like you in your picture) - that's how they keep cool.
