The Poison Bean

Any guesses as to what this little guy is?

I've seen a number of yards with an interesting, tall, purple palmate foliaged (say that five times fast!) plant that's a real eye catcher in the last few years. Started noticing them pop up in the seed catalogs as well...the purple castor bean. Finally decided I had the space and wanted something tall and crazy looking, plus I have some spots that need some purple... Here's what the plant COULD look like...

The seeds' have only been in the ground a couple weeks now, but the weather wasn't great at first. Now that things have warmed up, annnnd we're getting some rain, the leaves are starting to pop up out of the soil. It'll be interesting to watch 'em grow, and I can't wait to see how tall they get.

Oh, but don't eat 'em - they're poisonous! It's funny how some plants NEED to have this pointed out about, while other's it's never an issue...no one would be tempted to eat them. Maybe it's because these might form bean pods? Maybe they just look so cool someone wants to stick them in their mouth? Who knows! But DON'T EAT IT!
