Last post showing cupcakes for a long time - promise! But since people have asked, here's what the final results looked like. Lighting wasn't great, but actually I think that worked in my favor! ;-)
I was told where to put the cake/cupcakes, but not much else. Wha!? I don't know what I'm doing here! Some of the cupcakes wiped out on the drive to amish country, many of the candy topping were sweating (it'd gone from really stormy the night before and morning of the wedding, to a really sunny, warm and muggy day...plus there was air conditioning added to the mix), and I was freaking a little. Oh, and sweating a lot. The goals - NOT to sweat on the food, get the food looking nice, get it out for wedding attendees to eat after dinner, fix as many tipped-over cupcakes as I could, and, um, display the cake somehow.
Crap.
Ok, to be honest, and fair to myself, this picture really doesn't do it justice - the cake looked pretty good! I know Sharon had the photographer get some pics of her, Andy, Brett, myself, and the cake table - so we'll see how those look. Turns out I'm pretty good at poking ferns and begonia flowers in around the edges of a cake - too bad I didn't have enough to go around the backside of the cake! ;-)
And the cupcakes - well, it was a round table, the food was all round, and there were four toppings in two colors - so I just kind of went in contentric circles around the cake. I dunno - what else should I have done. I thought there might be a stand to put the cupcakes on, but I think this looked pretty good. People kept saying it looked good...so I'll just go with it.
Oh, and a couple cupcakes were positioned to hide the spots where the tablecloth got frosted/stained when a cupcake tipped over. ;-)
Ok, enough about me - the wedding itself was beautiful! I'll post more pictures real soon, but here's a sneak peak of the wedding party, the carriage, and the beautiful background...

Pshaw! I think it looks terrific! Maybe your instincts (you know the ones I mean!) took over and won the day -- as far as the cakes go, I mean ... the nuptials and such notwithstanding!
Thanks!! :) So maybe I should quit what I'm doing and go into a combined bakery/florist business?
Nah, I think I'll pass...
Looks good, Jeph! I like that you did circles around the cake. That's a nice alternative to tiered cupcakes on a stand.
We're back from our honeymoon and let me say a LOT of people commented on loving the cupcakes - usually mentioning the red velvet. Everyone thought the table looked great and Jeph totally knows what he was doing. It wasn't a formal wedding on purpose, so I knew that whatever Jeph did would be beautiful. We didn't get to try the cake until later in our hotel room, but it was DELICIOUS!!! It was all a big hit! We owe Jeph a TON for helping us!
Blush! Thanks guys!
