And while we're talking about preserving stuff...

Seriously - I have a problem here...

About half of these guys are beefsteak-sized tomatoes. You can see some have split from all the rain. I've gotta get them all cleaned up and frozen or canned pronto! And I bet it won't be much longer before I'm picking more big colanders/bowls of ripe tomatoes.

I have to say this year I've had a handful of Green Zebra tomatoes bigger than any year before. Kinda cool!

Oh what I would do to those tomatoes.

Pervert!

Unfortunately the neighbor kids got to have fun launching some of them into the compost or pond from across the yard during yesterday gale force winds, care of Ivan the Massive Storm (no longer a hurricane)...a number of the tomatoes were too far gone when I picked them, and wishful thinking was that I could salvage them, but I didn't get to them fast enough.

Um, actually, it was the extratropical storm formerly known as "Ike," not "Ivan." Really, Jeph -- are we going to have to confiscate your storm spotter card?

Doh! Y'know, I typed in Ike, and then thought that didn't seem right and changed it to Ivan. Thanks!
