Chocolate!

What's better than making a chocolate pound cake as a thank you for Jen's mom delivering a second round of horse manure (AND helping me shovel it all into the garden)???

Making sure there's ALSO enough cake to take in to work tomorrow to share with the gang (and so we'll have a little here for ourselves at home)!

Granted, that means twice the ingredients, and twice the mixing - and considering how detailed the Great Coffee Cakes, Sticky Buns, Muffins & More book's instruction are, it took me over an hour and a half to gather/measure all the ingredients and to mix the two cakes (plus my mega-sized KitchenAid mixer isn't great for recipes that start with you beating just 1 1/3 sticks of butter for awhile, then taking 6-8 minutes to add in 1 1/4 cups of sugar - it's just not enough content to actually make contact with the paddle AND the sides at first!) Here's just some of the ingredients - a mix of flour, cocoa, baking powder, baking soda and salt; sour cream; butter; eggs...

(PS: My butter cubes aren't dirty....there's just some cocoa on them...)

Once they were finally out... And yes, that's two different Bundt cake pans!

Voila!

I consider this one more of a cathedral look - I'm not sure what it's officially called.

And this ones a bunch of busy ridges.

I dunno - something about these next to pics just looks dirty to me. Is it just me?

And rather than make up a heavy frosting to go on top, I just went with the alternate suggestion - dust with powdered sugar. I have a slice waiting for me - I'm hoping it's goooood!

The icing sugar is a good choice - it really emphasizes the ridges and design nicely.

I'm grateful for the powdered sugar here. Makes them look less like anus cakes.

YUMMY.

Oh I love the powdered sugar look - it is very graceful and seems to emphasize the ridges like Peter said. Very pretty! And looks super super yummy.

Mmmmm... cake was good! My parents have just about wiped it out. They say "thanks"! As do I, since I stole a piece for breakfast on Saturday.

Sharon - Maybe I'll have to make something similar the next time we're all together!? Only perhaps a bit more moooiii...(damn you!)...tender?

Jen - glad you guys liked it! Hopefully you guys thought about a trailer load of poo with every bite? And while chocolate cake may not NORMALLY be approved breakfast food, I think it helped that this stuff wasn't overly sweet.... I too had a piece early in the day! ;-)
