Last week we decided to take Doogie for an after-work trip to the doggie beach again. We'd only been the one other time, but he had so much fun we figured he deserved another trip. One thing's for certain, when he's there, he's so distracted that the stuff he usually loves is pretty much ignored...
(Ok, to be honest, he DID catch a few frisbee throws....but he didn't bother chasing ball very much!)
Check it out - what dog WOULDN'T want to come out to the beach with that beautiful view!?
Sometimes the best part about Doogie is watching him walk away - that tail just flip flops back and forth like it has a mind of it's own!
Our pootch is quite the player, making nice with all the ladies at the beach.
There was another border collie, definitely more pure-bred than Doogie, that showed up with her owners.
What a beautiful dog!
It was probably around 7pm, so the sun was getting low, and the park wasn't nearly as packed as mid-day on a weekend. Definitely a more peaceful visit!
Doogie made some new friends! (I'm SO glad we humans don't greet each other this way!)
"YAY! I don't know you! YAY!"
We're so proud - it seems no other dog can get all the other dogs wound up into a game of chase like ours.
Now this is something we warned Doogie about...maybe he shouldn't drink the water. But this was the closest he'd been to the water out of both visits, so it was nice that he was getting close to it and checking it out. HOWEVER...we noticed for at least the next few nights we could sometimes hear his tummy gurgling and he didn't always look like he was feeling great. Maaaaaybe he shouldn't have drank the water???

I am so jealous of that dog park beach. Jada would LOVE it there - and would love to chase Doogie! She is that kinda girl.
Funny- Watson's talent was always to get the dogs at the park wound up and chasing after him! We stopped going several years ago though when he had a major collision with another dog. Watson just runs on the farm now instead.
I heard your vet recommended against taking Watson. So far so good with Doogie, but we are prepared to have something possibly bad happen sometime. It really does seem to help with his dog socializing skills, and he has such a blast. Let's just hope nothing really bad ever happens.
