Reach for the sky

Here's the tallest sunflower in the yard this year. With the winds picking up, I wanted proof in case they got blown over.

Wow! There is a HUGE field off Clover Street here in Rochester that is filled with sunflowers and when they are all in bloom, the sight is just breathtaking.

I envy your rich soil Jeph. I am trying to grow a garden on clay that grows rocks and cactus.

Thanks for the comments (and visits) guys! Welcome aboard to the newcomers. I'm glad we got the picture when we did - since then it's been windy enough than now I have to duck under the overhanging sunflower, and often find myself hitting my head on them as I back out of the tomatoes row.

And Rene - Trust me, my soil's really bad clay as well. I'm always trying to add improvements, but the clay seems to just absorb the good stuff I add without showing much long-term change.
