The Japanese 2-n-1 plum trees yesterday:
The same trees today:
Tomorrow night? Freezing temps! C'mon Mother Nature - after you give these guys the little tickle that says "ok, open up your blooms", don't go back and get all frigid on them....that's just going to kill any chances of me getting fruit off of these trees. Now I KNEW this was a risk when I got the trees in the first place, but now that they've been in the ground a little while and are trying to set fruit, well....I changed my mind. I can't deal with it. ;-)
And I don't think I'm going to try wrapping the trees - that was a MESS last winter, and did zero good. (Granted, I used thin plastic painters drop "cloth", and that might've cooked them a little if they weren't already freezing...)

So pretty! Would spraying with water help? I heard they do this with orange trees in FL.
I've heard of this, and considered it, but figure it's not worth the effort, the expense, nor the MESS the yard would be after a night of having the sprinkler running on it. I'm eager to get home from work today to see how things survived last nite!
