And smelling great!
And dropping ants, unfortunately.

pretty peonies! is that a fiestaware pitcher? and yeah, ants (no uncles) help to open the blooms.

Ants don't actually help open the blooms -they're just there for the nectar or whatever. I've had to look this up before because I've heard so many people say ants open the blooms, but that's just an old wives tale. That would mean, if a peony were somewhere without ants, the flowers could never open! ;-)

Nope, not fiestaware, but I can see how it looks like it. There's a local artist who makes pottery, and I won this at a party years ago. I wouldn't have bought it if I saw it (I'm cheap about art/pottery/etc), but I've really grown to love it. And it is TOUGH - very heavy, very sturdy. I always worry the handle will break off but nope, it's tough!

You should smell the peonies - the whole yard smells great right now!

As I said about the other photo - this is just beautiful. I totally covet that pitcher too. You got a good buy there. I'm always looking for larger vases for bouquets and nothing really seems to fit the bill.

You can try dipping the blossoms in water before bringing indoors, and the ants will wash harmlessly out and go back about their business. :)
