For the sock knitters...

I dunno, maybe I should be a tad embarrassed for pointing out how exciting and handy this video has come to be for me??  I forget how I found out about it, but I'm definitely preferring Jeny's Surprisingly Stretchy Bind-off for my socks over the standard bind-off I'd used before.

While it's a good example for watching, I admit it's a little hard to follow (for me at least) because it goes kinda fast.  I think part of it is just because I have done that many yarn-overs yet, and without the experience of what is apparently a more common yarn-over, I'm having a hard time remembering the difference between a regular yarn-over and a reverse yarn-over.  Yes, one wraps around from the front, and one from the back....I just seem to have cognitive difficulties when it comes to locking onto and retaining this sort of thing when it's so subtle looking.

Anyhow, I've watched this video quite a few times - I've JUST finished my fourth sock in just a few weeks (they're worsted weight with the yarn held double, so they go super fast), and each time I've had to get myself to a computer so I can keep rewinding a little bit to watch the crucial parts of the video.  I should do myself a little cheat sheet of some sort to pull out when needed.

The end result is great - it truly is a surprisingly stretchy bind-off, meaning you don't get that slightly-too-tight top to the sock that tries to kill the circulation in your super muscular calves (assuming you have calves like my incredibly manly calves).  Ooooor perhaps if you just knit your socks on a needle size too small or with slightly too few stitches around.  Either way, if you haven't used this bind-off, give it a try!
