Where I've Lived

Because, hell, I'm sure you care...right? Seriously this is more for me than you... Brett's accused me of "getting all nostalgic". I've been having fun zooming in and out and scrolling all around in Google maps. Sometimes I'll go check out some small island in the middle of the ocean, or earlier I was travelling around Rome in street view.

Well here's a fun one - here's where I lived when I was in 9th and 10th grade - one of the apartments just to the left of the cloud:

Now if you zoom out just a notch or two, and if you scroll over eastward, you'll see a HUGE difference in the style of buildings/city life. What you're seeing is the difference between Osan Air Force Base, and Osan town, in South Korea. Dad was in the Air Force, so we moved around a fair amount... I'd have to say South Korea was probably the most exotic of places, and while I wasn't super fond of it while we were there (think about it - your first couple of years of high school, no malls or other shopping things normal kids do, living in a place where you're a minority and most other kids are talking in a foreign language), I have to admit that I really DID enjoy living there, being exposed to a totally different culture, all the cool foods I'll never get to eat again, etc...

Would I go back? You betchya!

Would I LIVE there again? Eeeehhhh....maybe for a year?
