Idol Speculation

So tonite we saw Kelly get voted off Idol. Y'know - I don't think I really liked her at first - she was just a blonde ditz (honestly - she's truly ditzy - have you watched the show?!?!), and maybe it seemed like she'd be another Carrie Underwood, but she really grew on me. Her quirkyness, her bluntness (because she didn't know any better most of the time!?), and yes, because of her singing - the girl's got a set of pipes on her! (Kelly - if you're reading this, that means you can really sing well with your vocal chords) I was absolutely shocked that she did such an amazing job with Queen's 'Bohemian Rhapsody' - after Constantine did such a great job last year, and because it was a female covering the song, and because she's typically a country girl, I figured it'd flop. So did the judges. And yet she really made it work. That was three weeks ago. Her last two weeks really bombed - she even admitted she was doing a bad job. Even PAULA was saying she was doing bad and it was time to go (rumor had it Kelly and Paula did not like each other). So seeya Kelly - I'm sure you'll still do well in the music business!

It was good to see the judges apologize to Kat tonite after they ripped her to pieces last nite. I guess they went back, rewatched the episode, and realized that, yes, she really DID do a great job!! Now if only someone would've commented on her little wardrobe malfunction... One little button popping from her dress about crotch level, with people POSSIBLY getting a sneak peek, and they had to go and be proper about it and not comment. Bummer. C'mon people - this is entertainment!! ;-)

Another interesting event last nite - Elliot bringing Paula to tears. Or maybe it was pain killers or alcohol or hormones. Who knows, but she was a little more realistic/harsh with her reviews of their performances, and she was also more emotional than her usual self. I have to wonder if they don't get a little worn down from getting attached to these kids and then losing one a week... Brett and I really want Elliot. Brett also wants Taylor, so I guess that means Elliot's meant to be mine! Peter ALSO wants Elliot and Taylor, but Peter's not exactly a loyal watcher of show, so I guess that means he gets the leftovers! ;-) (Note: Peter's also not doing a good job of updating his blog, so that's another reason I deserve Elliot more than Peter!) :)

And last, but definitely not least, I still have to say I miss Ayla. I didn't think I would like her at first - she seemed too jock girl. But she could sing REALLY well, and she crossed over well into non-jock-girl-land as she was learning all about the wonderful world of getting stylized. (I don't know if they have stylists before they get to the Top 12 stage, or if the girls just do each other's make up?) Whatever the case...Ayla really made amazing improvements in her talent in her short time on the show. And instead she was the last person to get voted off before the Top 12. Melissa, who got that spot, got voted off the very next week. I think that was a voting mistake (no, I didn't vote). I think if Ayla made it into the Top 12, she could've been around a little longer. Oh well - hopefully we'll see her around again. Hello, 16 yr old Lisa is apparently going to be on the OC tomorrow nite. How'd they pull that off!?!? She's only been off AI like 3 weeks?

Speculations on who gets voted off next week? I'd like to see Paris go. As amazingly powerful as her voice is, and as cute as she can SOMETIMES look, I just don't like her. I don't know if it's her lack of enunciation, or how she seems to have very few moves, or her annoying little "thenk yew". Whatever it is...it's her time. Kat's been in the bottom votes a few times I think. Ditto for Elliot? I hope they're not next! I also don't want to see Taylor go. Chris is smolderingly sexy, but I don't think he deserves the top position - too much of his stuff sounds the same. Taylor's got an amazingly fun quirkiness and I can totally see someone different like him winning this. (Hello - COUNTRY won last year - that was a surprise!) I don't want to see Kat or Elliot go tho - I think they're my favorites, with Taylor RIGHT behind them.

I feel like I'm forgetting someone. Hm.
