Uh oh...
What the hell am I going to do if all thirteen of the patty pan squash on this one plan come ripe at the same time!??! I actually yanked the four largest ones (still REAL small) after taking this picture, and might sautee them and work them in for tonite's dinner?
Andy - if you happen to see this - this can be a visual aid to Friday's horticultural lesson at work. Those green pokey things on each of the patty pans are the female flower buds. You can also see some of the flower buds (not yet opened up) on stalks without a patty pan squash attached - those would be the males. The bugs are doing all the pollinating for me...

Cool, those are the flowers? I never pictured them growing that way.
Yeah, well, more likely the buds for the flowers. You can sort of see one of the yellowy-orange flowers in the background - they get really big!
