When Pesto Goes Bad

Um. Ok, I knew that the pesto I used in today's Green Eggs and Ham was an older batch - quite possibly from LAST summer? And it was one of the darker batches we've ever had, and we weren't real fond of it, but I didn't want pesto to go to waste (is pesto like what they say about pizza and porn - even bad pesto is still good pesto?).

But, um, hm. We just saw Brett's folks off after a GREAT dinner of grilled marinated pork tenderloins sliced thin and served on the ever-popular flat bread, along with a corn/black bean/tomato/bell pepper salad, and lettuce salad, followed by pumpkin muffins. ANd then the stomach cramps started. BAAAAD!

Brett wondered if it was something I'd cooked tonite...only he's having no probs.

Thirty minutes or so later....nope, it was definitely the pesto from earlier today. :(

My tummy hurts. Among other parts. :(

That still seems kind of fast for it to be self-inflicted food poisoning.

In any case, learn your lesson: if it's not good, then don't use it or serve it. I realize you were the only one who suffered, but really!
