How big are those ears?

Elephant ears planted from bulbs passed on to me from one of Brett's co-workers this spring, with the dogs in the picture to provide some scale.

Now the real trick is going to be for me to wait til frost kills off the tops, then dig them up and successfully save them over winter. I haven't done this with elephant ears before, so I need to make sure that's the right way to do it...
