Like Cerberus, the three-headed dog guarding the gates to Hades, sometimes Simon takes it upon himself to guard the stairs. (Or, if you're walking up the steps, he'll appear from no where, tear past you on the stairs, and then come to a screeching halt in front of you...like he beat you to some unmentioned step that you didn't know you were racing towards.)
